Celebrating the recent announcement of Cardiff RFC inclusion into the Elite Domestic Competition (EDC) ,we have enjoyed sponsoring the 1st team squad this season. None of this would not of been possible without the assistance of 1st team coach Steve Law who will take a different challenge ,moving on to pastures new. Having attended the recent 47-24 victory over Merthyr, best wishes to both Cardiff and Steve for next season.

A Return to Site after 40 Years

CS Flooring have been successful with our tender bid for ISG Construction at the former Direct Working Pensions site at Gabalfa Cardiff. The current owners, Cardiff University will create a facility linked to the adjoining Cardiff University Hospital site which will provide urgently needed Healthcare Relocation and Training facilities to improve facilities for the region.

Interesting fact on this particular site relates to us being responsible for providing flooring to the previous tenants, some 40 years ago, PSA (Property Services Agency) when we held the term contract. Incidentally, there is evidence of small areas of linoleum from that period still visible.

Work commenced in July, which initially involved a substantial amount of remedial work to the floor slab which involves making up levels to produce a suitable laying surface for floor finishes.

After careful consideration and thought we finally opted for our tried and tested supplier, Bostik to assist us in providing suitable products to help us achieve an adequate floor substrate.

Provisional order amounts exceed over 75 pallets of latex which have already been delivered into site.Overall floor plate coverage extends over 6000 sqm featuring Forbo and Milliken carpet tiles flooring.

Attached are images which demonstrate the final finishes which will be achieved shortly. Updates on our progression will be forthcoming.

Site visit to review another completed project for Morgan Sindall at The Centre for Learning and Wellbeing, Barry.

We are proud to share the successful completion of yet another school-based flooring project at The Centre for Learning and Wellbeing in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.

In this post, we'll take you on a quick tour of this recently completed project, showcasing the exceptional results achieved by our dedicated installation team.

Our recent site visit to the centre was a moment of pride for us, as we saw the transformation brought about by our talented install team. Mark, Steve and Jack, led by our Contracts Manager Ieuan, demonstrated their skill and expertise throughout, evident in the photos which capture the high standard of workmanship.

One of the elements of this project was the installation of Altro Wall Cladding . This choice not only provided an effective and aesthetically pleasing finish throughout the walkways and stairwells, but also added practical benefits in terms of durability and maintenance. Altro Wall Cladding is a perfect solution for high-traffic areas like The Centre of Learning and Wellbeing, as it stands up to wear and tear while maintaining its fresh appearance.

In addition to the wall cladding, our team also installed Gerflor vinyl sheet and CFS Carpet tiles, complementing the overall design and adding an extra layer of comfort to the space. Gerflor vinyl sheet is known for its versatility, providing an easy-to-maintain and hygienic surface, making it ideal for educational facilities generally. The CFS Carpet tiles not only offered a touch of elegance but also provided sound-absorption benefits, creating a peaceful environment for learning and relaxation.

The hard work invested by our team has certainly paid dividends, as The Centre for Learning and Wellbeing is now open and operational, ready to serve its purpose as a hub for growth and wellbeing in the community.

A Visit From One Of Our Suppliers - Gerflor

One of our suppliers, Gerflor, came to visit us and presented two framed case studies on a recent job we have completed plus a historical case study on a project at the University of South Wales.

New community Hub to improve Health and Social Care

We have started on a 3 month contract at Bro Dyfi Hospital , Machynlleth

New community Hub to improve Health and Social Care at the Hospital.

Welsh Government Health Minister Eluned Morgan said: “This investment will deliver much needed improvements to the hospital, which will make a real difference to the people in the Dyfi Valley. “It will help to deliver more care closer to home, which is one of our key priorities for patient care, and will reshape community health and well-being services for the future.”

Work commenced Oct 2022.

The vision for the school is a progressive education facility, which achieves best practice in regards to a design that supports educational achievement while being compact and value for money.The proposals will provide a first-class educational facility, tailor made to meet an increasing demand for a school in the Barry Waterfront area. It represents a valuable public investment in what is an increasingly popular location, and will enhance the network of local schools.”

Santa’s helpers deliver Christmas food parcels

The Food Matters/Bwyd o Bwys Project

We are proud to have been one of the Cardiff-based businesses, working with Morgan Sindall Construction on delivering Christmas cheer to schools and a daycare centre in the area. Following on as part of their £29 million Whitmore High School construction project started in October 2019, Morgan Sindall has helped support the established local Food Matters/Bwyd o Bwys project.

The Food Matters/Bwyd o Bwys Project, familiarly referred to as BBB in the schools, was originally set up in 2005 to provide food and nutrition knowledge, practical cooking skills and to encourage ‘grow your own’ allotment schemes. It now has stepped up to help with food boxes for those not in work, needing free school meals and others who have been unable to do their own shopping during lockdowns since March.

We, and other local companies, all found time out of the busy work period leading up to holiday closures, to help with Morgan Sindall’s service to the community. We were out around the area delivering essential fresh food and staple groceries, plus extra Christmas treats to Oak Field Primary School, Ysgol Gwaun Y Nant and New Horizons Day Service at Hen Goleg Resource Centre, Barry. As you might expect, this year the service has been needed more than ever. The charity, Child Poverty Action Group states, “30% of children live in households below the poverty line (after housing costs)” and these food hampers are desperately needed.

The schools and daycare centre took collection of the cheerful, over-stuffed hampers, and distributed them to those attending the centre and families of children, through the schools. While dropping off seasonal hampers Santa’s Helpers were photographed beside the stacks of goodies and handing over a few surprise presents too, to happy staff as they prepared for Christmas.
